Amanda & Toray Bailey

The proposal occurred on our trip to Spain last January. He took me to this mountain range called Montserrat. After hiking through all of the religious monuments and monasteries, we reached the peak of the mountain and he placed the GoPro on the ledge for what I thought was a photo-op but instead it turned out to be the proposal. He said “just as we traveled these rocky roads and hills and valleys today, I want to know if you will travel this path called life with me”- and of course I said yes! We immediately decided that our wedding would be in Jamaica so the next month we flew there to look at venues and to have our engagement shoot.

As a nod to our Jamaican culture, we incorporated a Steel Band into the ceremony. They entertained guests as they waited for the ceremony to begin and again during the cocktail hour. We also choose to go with a traditional Jamaican menu. And of course the fact that the wedding took place on the island where both of our families are from was the epitome of cultural incorporation. The destination-wedding theme included passport invitations, luggage tag place cards and each table was named after one of our favorite destinations and included a photo of us there.
